He was raised on Helton Creek, Ashe County, NC but moved to Lancaster Co., PA in the 1930s, and later to Oxford, Chester Co., PA and still later to Dover, Delaware. He is buried in the Little Brittian Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Peach Bottom, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

His parents were Reuben Potter Jr. and Martha V. Lewis. After moving to Oregon he married Myrtle Fae Byers July 16,1917. Conley Potter died Jan. 29.1961 at Walla Walla, Wa. and he is buried at Fossil, Wheeler Co., Or. Mrytle Fae Byers died Sept. 4,1928 at Wasco Co. Or. and she is buried at Wasco, Or.
