Dunham, M. S.886 viewsM. S. DUNHAM CAME TO SALTVILLE FROM TITUSVILLE, PA. IN 1902 TO WORK AT THE MATHIESON ALKALI WORKS. HE HAD BEEN AN OIL DRILLER IN PENNSYLVANIA.

HE WAS PLACED IN CHARGE OF THE MAWX BRINE WELLS AND ROAD SUPERVISION. HE BECAME ONE OF SALTVILLE'S MOST PROMINENT CITIZENS AND WAS ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY. HE ALSO SERVED AS MAYOR.

HE LIVED ON WEST MAIN STREET ACROSS FROM THE 1905 SALTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING WHERE THE SALTVILLE MEDICAL CENTER IS NOW LOCATED. HE DIED ON AUGUST 25, 1946.

THE HOUSE IS STILL IN THE DUNHAM FAMILY.

THE OTHER ONE WAS MISS ROBBIE CAMPBELL (ROGERS), WHO LIVED ON EASY STREET AND TAUGHT THIRD GRADE AT SALTVILLE ELEMENTARY FOR MANY YEARS. MISS LULA SHANNON TAUGHT FOURTH GRADE FOR MANY YEARS. DOUG WAS EMPLOYED IN THE MATHIESON OFFICE AT THE PLANT.

GEORGE WAS A LAWYER WHO LIVED OUT OF TOWN AND VISITED FROM TIME TO TIME. I DIDN'T KNOW ELLEN.
