Madam Russell, as she was known, was a sister of Virginia's Revolutionary War Governor Patrick Henry.  She was first married to Rev. War. Brig. General William Campbell and then to Rev. War Brig General William Russell.  She was also known as the mother of Methodism in Southwest Virginia.  She lived at Saltville and later at Sulphur Springs (Chilhowie).
