Location: North of Mouth of Wilson Creek

Directions: From the junction of Wilson Hwy (US 58) and Jefferson Hwy (SR 16) go east approximately 1/2 mile on Wilson Hwy to Steve Phipps place on left side of road. Turn left on ridge, approximately 300 yards to site of cemetery.

Comments: Only a few field stones.Dr. Vertigan settled near Mouth of Wilson Creek and started practicing medicine as a young doctor. He had a wife and 7 young children. He and his 7 children contracted small pox and died. His wife survived and married a Dr. Wagg, at Grassy Creek, NC-VA. Community residents burned the Vertigan home to rid the area of the virus.
