Smith-Cooley Graves

Grayson County, Virginia

Location: Baywood Area

Directions: Take Old Baywood Road (Rt 626) southwest from Baywood about 1.3 miles then turn south (left) onto Knoll Ridge Lane. The graves are in the edge of a wooded area beyond the last house. It is difficult to tell if there are any more graves located here.

Comments: Several years ago the stones were found by Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Austin. They cleaned the stones and recorded the names and dates. Recently the stones were damaged by farm machinery. I was able to find the base and part of the Cooley stone. The other parts are probably scattered about in the high grass. The cemetery does not have an official name. The name used here is from the surnames of the individuals who are buried here.
