Riley Ward Family Cemetery

Location: West of Cox’s Chapel
Directions: From the junction of Cox’s Chapel Rd (Rt 601) and Potato Creek Rd (Rt 708) go 0.85 mile west on Potato Creek Rd to barn on right (north) side of road. The cemetery is in back of and west from barn on a hill.

Comments: The cemetery is fenced and maintained. When surveyed in 2004 there was no reliable information on who is buried here. Since the land has been in the hands of descendants of “Big John” Cox it is likely that some may be buried here. Someone, possibly the current owners, placed the following monument in the cemetery: “In memory of all who sleep here.” A listing from Paul Herndon’s files shows the following information:
