Grandpa Medley (Thomas Jefferson) made the picket fence and they are in front of a huge Pampas grass plant that he got somewhere in his travels and planted in the yard. Mom said that he took really good care of his yard. This was on Mitchell's River, inside what is now the Reynolds Estate ...Mom said neighbors would get the "flowers" from the Pampas Grass to use for dusters..

She and her husband came by to see me for a few minutes and then went by Devotion. The gatekeeper of the Reynolds estate allowed them to go inside to the Thompson cemetery.
Directions from the gate to the Thompson Homestead and Graveyard site:Get Permission at the gatehouse
Go through gate for 3 10ths miles on right, inside fence. Mitchell's River and the creek flow on either side.
Buried here are Martha Thompson wife of Hiram Higgins. (Hiram was killed in the Civil War and Martha was murdered by John Jack Mayes and burned in her house ) The cemetery is being kept in very good condition. Courtesy of Nanalee Wrenn nwrenn37@yadtel.net
