Phipps, Vance571 viewsVance Phipps, in the center of the photo, was the son of Nathaniel Phipps and Martha Carolina Hart. He was born and raised in the Weaver's Ford section of Ashe County, NC. He was accused of murder, however, and fled the jurisdiction because he felt he couldn't get a fair trial. This photo was taken in Boone County, Iowa around 1900.
