Foster Falls - Brick Church828 viewsTwo churches mentioned in Hannah Walton Sanders' Civil War era diary @ http://home.alltel.net/cjwalker/

A sign at the Old Brick Church states that the church was established in 1890, but that conflicts with her diary. I believe the congregation was established in 1890, but the building is much older and was more of a meeting house before being organized as a church.

Hannah Walton Sanders is connected with the Walton family for whom Walton's Furnace was named. Walton Furnace is located within a few hundred yards of Sanders Mine Road at it's intersection with Walton Furnace Road. Sander's Mine was operated by her husband.

Mouth of Wilson - The Round House828 viewsThis house was built by Dan Idol in 1874. Although called the Round House it is actually octagonal. There was a mini-craze for octagonal houses in the mid-19th century. This is apparently the only one in Grayson County. Photo by Jeff Weaver, June 8, 2007.
