CBdeerhunting.jpg1601 viewsMy grandfather was born in 1889 and in this picture he looks to be in his 40s at most, so I guess this scene was in the 1930s, and though he had lived in Maryland since 1920, this hunting party probably was "back home" because his brother Dent and, according to an aunt, his nephew Glenn Kilby, both Ashe Countians, are in the picture. I send this, thinking you might recognize the other hunters. To identify those I know: at deer's hindquarters with gun over shoulder--Charles Bradley Pennington, second from right, Dent Pennington; far right, Glenn Kilby. Saltville - Olin Engine No. 41592 viewsOLIN MATHIESON DIESEL NO. 4 WAS BROUGHT TO SALTVILLE FROM DETROIT IN 1960. THE ENGINE HAD 12 CYLINDERS AND 1000 HP. They lived on Haw Orchard Mountain, Grayson County, VA, and are buried in the Haw Orchard Baptist Church Cemetery. Common rumour has it she was a witch.
