It's the view of the Sturgill's community facing the road to Lansing (Rt. 194?) and was taken in about 1930, I'd guess. My recollection of recent visits is that the view hasn't changed all that much. It is located on Helton Creek, about a quarter mile from the Virginia line in Ashe County, NC. Francis Sturgill (1782-1842) was the son of Francis Sturgill, Sr. and Rebecca Hash. Phebe Weaver 1783-1855 was the daughter of William Weaver, Sr. and his first wife, who was a daughter of Moses McDaniel.
