MarionCabin_1901_.jpg1018 viewsOn the back, in my G-Grandmother Marilla Anderson's hand: [and her spelling]
" The house where my Father was born, June 22, 1822 - Marion, Smythe County, Virginia - His sister Maggie and little girl Daisy standing in yard - Nov. [blur] 6th, 1901"
If "Maggie" is William Reese Anderson's sister Margaret, she would be about 64 years old, in this shot. She looks about right for that age, in that family line. Her brother never did turn gray.

pennington sisters 1216 viewsThese are the daughters of Stephen and Johanna Pennington; Cansada Jane (known as Aunt Jenny to the family, I believe, but certainly NOT Cansada, though she was enumerated on at least one census with that name) is in the center. Youngest daughter Martha Caroline (Sturgill) is on the right; Orlean (Young) on the left. I have no idea who the accordian player is. He doesn't look like the Pennington's only son Cicero to my eye.

EastMainandEasyStreets4.jpg895 viewsHere Is a Picture I Have Had since the Late 60's. It Was Given to Me by My Neighbor on E. Main Street. Benita and I Were Living in the Little Apartment We Built at 600 E. Main. Our Neighbor, Miss Lula Shannon, Came over One Day and Gave Me the Pictures. She Knew I Liked Old Pictures. I Had Grown up Beside the Shannons next Door at What Is Now 602 E. Main. The Shannons, Lula and Her Brother C. Douglas, Were Never Married. She Was a School Teacher...I Had Her in the Fourth Grade...And He Worked in the Office at Olin.
Doug Passed Away in 1970 at the Age of 79. Miss Lula Was Born Aug. 20, 1889 and Passed Away on Jan. 5, 1971 at the Age of 81. They Are Buried in the Elizabeth Cemetery.
