This photo shows the offices and shop for Ashe County Cheese, North Carolina's only cheese factory. It was established on Helton Creek about 1915, and then bought by Kraft Foods in 1929 and moved to West Jefferson. When Kraft proposed to close it, the local employees bought it and continue to operate it. Photo by Jeff Weaver, October 20, 2006.
