Location: Elkhorn Community
Directions: Located on land that Allen Smith bought from the heirs of Joshua Parker in 1840. The cemetery is on a high hilltop, beside an old plantation road. It is off a private drive at the end of Turkey Run Lane, 1.2 miles from Rt. 713 (Elkhorn Road), in the Crooked Creek Mountain View Estates Development. The development entrance is 2.5 miles from the intersection of Rt. 713 (Elkhorn Road) and Rt. 722 (Cranberry Road).
GPS Coordinates: N 36.68809 W 080.84251

Comments: The cemetery is abandoned and in poor condition. It is now called the Pettit Cemetery, but it was once called the Parker Cemetery. It is very likely that there once was a church or meeting house here and this was a community cemetery. There are 3 marked graves and 50 or more graves indicated by fieldstones or sunken ground. It is also likely that among the unmarked graves are members of the Parker family. Information in [brackets] is not on the stone.
