Comments: This cemetery may well be associated with the family of John Hamm (1780-before 1850) and his wife, Sarah Landreth Hamm (1785-ca 1845). The cemetery lies on a ridge above Elk Creek, which borders Grayson on the NC state line. Local residents say a Hamm Mill stood below the cemetery on this creek and there was a Hamm Ford nearby on New River. While Hamm family members believe John and Sarah Hamm are buried at Bethany Church, it is also possible that they are buried at this site.
