A sign at the Old Brick Church states that the church was established in 1890, but that conflicts with her diary. I believe the congregation was established in 1890, but the building is much older and was more of a meeting house before being organized as a church.

Hannah Walton Sanders is connected with the Walton family for whom Walton's Furnace was named. Walton Furnace is located within a few hundred yards of Sanders Mine Road at it's intersection with Walton Furnace Road. Sander's Mine was operated by her husband.

THE LINE IS UNUSUAL IN THAT IT IS RUNNING NORTH-SOUTH. MOST FOLLOW THE VALLEY FLOORS IN A SOUTHWEST-NORTHEAST DIRECTION.

Office Hours

The GCHS office is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, or by special appointment.
