Crockett Holdaway Family Cemetery

Directions: From the junction of Fox Creek Rd (Rt 678) and Kindrick Rd (Rt 727) go north approximately 0.2 mile on Fox Creek Rd. The cemetery is on right (east) side of road; Fox Ridge Rd behind this home, 0.49 mile (NNE 32 deg True), up the slope.

Comments: We aren’t sure where this cemetery was located. Paul Herndon reported that the cemetery was on the west-facing point of a finger ridge, untended, overgrown, fence down, and that the owner in 1995 was Laura Belle Holdaway. Billy Hash described it as lying on the hill east of Fox Creek Road 1/4 mile north of the Pine Branch community. The first set of coordinates were reported by Mr. Herndon and the second were estimated by us. They do not match. Cemetery has approximately fifteen fieldstone markers and sunken places where some additional 30 or so graves could be. No names are inscribed on any of the field stones. Family members provided information to Mr. Hash about people known to be buried here.
