Bobbitt Cemetery (A-A)
Grayson County, Virginia
Location: Old Town
Directions: This cemetery in is near the end of Idlewood Lane (Rt 868). At the end of Idlewood Lane, turn left onto a gravel driveway and travel about 0.25 mile. Walk west across the pasture field and enter the woods. The cemetery is in the edge of the woods. It is bordered on the back side by an old road.
GPS Coordinates: N36.64452 W80.96990
Surveyed by: Buford C. Wilson; updated 14 Apr 2008
Comments: The cemetery is abandoned and in very poor condition. I was able to count at least 35 graves indicated by stones or sunken ground. I suspect there are more hidden by undergrowth and a carpet of pine needles. Also there are two uprooted trees lying in the cemetery and there are some graves hidden by them. Most are marked with soapstone markers, some of which have information scratched on the stone. There is one grave with a marble marker. I believe this is an old African/American cemetery.
