Anders Family Cemetery
Independence, Grayson County, Virginia
Location: Original location south of Independence near the north end of the US 21 bridge over the New River.
Directions: From the junction of New River Parkway (US 21/221) and Old River Rd.(Rt 700) go west on Old River Rd about until it winds around and under the US 21 bridge. The cemetery location is reportly near this point.
The markers now are on the margin of the Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 1.35 miles south of the intersection of Main Street (U.S. 58) and New River Parkway in Independence. These graves are down a steep hill. The cemetery is not fenced but it is mowed.

Comments: The graves of the Anders Family Cemetery were moved in September 1987 to a plot on the margin of the Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery prior to destruction of the cemetery during construction of a new bridge crossing New River. The highway engineer who inspected the site thought there were 24 or more graves.
