Directions: This cemetery is on the north side of Jefferson Hwy (SR 16) near ridge top about 0.1 mile east of Reeves Hill Rd (Rt 721).

Comments: The cemetery is well fenced, but is badly overgrown. It is possible that some smaller stones were not found.

The daughter of Robert and Mary Polly Thomas Pugh, she died at age 47 years, of pneumonia. The obit in the 21 Mar 1876 issue of the Grayson Clipper of Independence newspaper states, “as the minister was conducting funeral services, her mother Mary Polly, gently reclined her head and instantly expired” The obit continued “…the sudden death of Mrs Pugh prevented the burial of Mrs. Reeves that day, but was deferred until March 1, when both mother and daughter were interred in the same grave. They were buried at the old parental burial ground on the premises of Mr. Robert Pugh, deceased.”] |
