Painter to Bishop Deed, 1877

This deed made this 22nd day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy seven between Thomas Painter of the one part and J. S. Bishop of the other part: Witnesseth that the said Thomas Painter in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars cash in hand the said Thomas Painter does grant to the said J. S. Bishop his entire interest in a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Carroll and State of Virginia on the Waters of Little Cranberry Creek waters of Crooked Creek containing one hundred and fifty-seven acres more or less, adjoining the land of David Jennings, Levi Sizemore and others, it being the land of George K. Painter, deceased and bounded (?) as follows: ………

The said Thomas Painter releases to the said J. S. Bishop all claims upon said land. witnesseth my hand and seal this 22nd day of December 1877.

Carroll County to wit:
I, a Justice of the Peace of the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do certify that Thomas Painter whose name is assigned to the writing hereto annexth bearing date on the 22nd day of December 1877 has acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid. Given under my hand this 22 day of December 1877.

This deed made this 19th day of August 1880 between James E. Painter of the first part of the County of Severe and State of Tennessee and Jacob Bishop of the second part of the County of Carroll and State of Virginia; witnesseth that for the consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars paid in hand on the____ day ________ 1880 the said James E. Painter do sell and convey to the said Jacob Bishop all his right and title to a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Carroll and State of Virginia, his interest in the estate of George Painter, deceased, lying on the waters of Little Cranberry and bounded by the lands of Levi Sizemore, David Jennings, John Lineberry, and others. To him and to hold the said lands to the said Bishop and his heirs forever, with general warranty.
Witnesseth the following signature and seal.
