Surveyed by: Buford C. Wilson and Carol Lindamood 13 Dec 2006; updated 15 May 2008

Comments: This appears to be a very large cemetery, possibly 50 or more graves. We were only able to locate 3 markers with inscriptions. Most of the graves are marked with field stones or indicated by sunken ground. In an earlier survey the DAR and Paul Herndon reported 5 legible markers. This cemetery has been called the John K. Simcock Cemetery, but it appears that this is the site of the old Meadow Creek Church and Cemetery. From the files of Gloria Arehart, J.J. and Lydia Simcock South gave 1 and 1/2 acres of land for the church in 1830. The church was burned in 1844 by an afflicted man. He lived in the household on the adjoining property. There is what appears to be an old roadbed in front of the cemetery and a level spot below that where the church building would have stood. Genealogy information is from the files of Bette Nelson.
