New River Notes — Complete

January 21, 2014

After about two years of work we have completed a major upgrade to New River Notes. On January 21, 2014 we switched in the last of the updated files and final page revisions.

In January 2013 we introduced the new site layout but because there were many pages left to do there was a big red Under Construction on the front page. A year later we've finished all of the pages that were on the original site. Construction is complete. We have a great looking site full of material to help you in your research and possibly entertain you.

Byram Ross Cemetery

aka Ross-Anderson Family Cemetery

Grayson County, Virginia

Location: Barton Crossroads

Directions: The cemetery is west of Sugar Branch and Razor Ridge Rd (Rt. 677) one mile north of Fox Creek Bridge. Access to this cemetery is either via a dirt road off Razor Ridge Rd about 0.15 mile south of the junction with Chestnut Ridge Road through a Christmas tree farm or through the driveway and yard of a house on Razor Ridge Road just north of the junction with Chestnut Ridge Road.

GPS Coordinates: N36.681657 W81.393968

Surveyed by: Rich and Ginger Ballard on 28 Mar 2003, with genealogical notes from Bette Nelson, and info from Paul Herndon’s files (survey by Kenneth Young in 1992)

Comments: This cemetery shows the attention folks have given it recently. It is surrounded by a white picket fence and several of the unmarked graves have been marked with white vinyl markers while others have been designated by metal or wooden stakes. Winter freezes have dislodged several of the metal stakes but their positions still show locations of the graves. This cemetery is across the road from the Adams Cemetery and both surnames appear in both cemeteries.
