New River Notes — Complete

January 21, 2014

After about two years of work we have completed a major upgrade to New River Notes. On January 21, 2014 we switched in the last of the updated files and final page revisions.

In January 2013 we introduced the new site layout but because there were many pages left to do there was a big red Under Construction on the front page. A year later we've finished all of the pages that were on the original site. Construction is complete. We have a great looking site full of material to help you in your research and possibly entertain you.

New River Notes, a leading genealogy resource for the New River Valley of North Carolina and Virginia, launched its new look website today.

Grayson County, Virginia

Location: Rugby

Directions: From the junction of Rugby Rd (Rt 743) and Tucker Rd (Rt 725) go 0.94 mile south on Rugby Rd. From this point in the road cemetery is on right (NW), visible on the ridge finger, directly across the stream approximately 100 yards distant. Access by continuing approximately 150 ft south on Rugby Rd to driveway on right, to residence 2088 Rugby Rd. Turn into driveway, go past the house, then turn right and follow the trail up to the ridgeline on right.

Comments: In 1996 cemetery was newly fenced, but cattle previously were allowed to graze it. Cemetery holds 4 graves, stones overturned, scattered and 2 of them broken or missing. Stones need to be set on their bases and cemented in place.

HALL, John Clen 25 Dec 1851 11 Mar 1940 stone lying on ground; [s/o Robert & Margaret Richardson Hall; m1 Lucy Jane Reedy, m2 Malissie L. Reedy, m3 Ollie Phipps.] He also has a stone in the Abram Reedy Cemetery.
HALL, Malissie "Lissie" 27 Mar 1859 28 Jun 1940 stone lying on the ground; [d/o Abram & Elizabeth Plummer Reedy; 2nd w/o John Clen Hall.] She also has a stone in the Abram Reedy Cemetery.
REEDY, Elizabeth [ca 1830] [6 Oct 1902] [nee Plummer; w/o Abram Reedy. Only 4 fragments of her stone were located in a nearby cattle barn. From these fragments and from information furnished by Sylvia Henderson, her step-granddaughter, the above dates were established. Other fragments may be obscured by heavy grass cover in the cemetery. She also has a stone in the Abram Reedy Cemetery but is actually buried here.
REEDY, Jonathan "Jonce" [1851] [1917] no stone located; [s/o Abraham (d 1862 CSA) and Elizabeth Plummer Reedy. Death information furnished by Sylvia Henderson.]
