Churches of Grayson County and Galax City, Virginia

This is a work in progress, an effort to identify all the churches that have existed over time in Grayson County and Galax City, Virginia.

The format for this section is that churches are broken down by county, then by general type, and alphabetical under that section. Each line has the name of the church, dates of operation, and affiliation by larger group.

This list identifies 212 active and historical churches in Grayson County in 20 broad categories (denominations). Of these 88 are Baptist of one branch or another, and an additional 59 Methodist Churches, or 69 percent of the total known. In the trivia department, if every man woman and child in Grayson County and Galax City were church members, this would average 108 people per church. Of course that is not the case, and many of these congregations are very small.
