New River Notes — Complete

January 21, 2014

After about two years of work we have completed a major upgrade to New River Notes. On January 21, 2014 we switched in the last of the updated files and final page revisions.

In January 2013 we introduced the new site layout but because there were many pages left to do there was a big red Under Construction on the front page. A year later we've finished all of the pages that were on the original site. Construction is complete. We have a great looking site full of material to help you in your research and possibly entertain you.

Samuel Tucker Family Cemetery

Grayson County, Virginia

Location: South of Grayson Highlands State Park

Directions: To reach this cemetery, turn south on Shippys Branch Road (Rt 742) from Grayson Highlands Pky (U.S. 58) near Grayson Highlands State Park Then turn left onto Pinnacle Lane (Rt 885). This cemetery is about 0.5 mile from 144 Pinnacle Lane. To reach it walk behind the house there, go to a grove of white pines, cross the fence, and then walk to the top of the hill. Look to the right and you will see the cemetery in the distance, and just walk to it.

GPS Coordinates: N36.609191 W81.461418

Surveyed by: Jeff Weaver on May 28, 2003. Additional data supplied by Laverne Spencer Kiser and Kathy Reedy Maye.

Comments: This cemetery has not been cared for some time. It is fenced but the fence is deteriorating badly. Reportedly (from Kathy Reedy Maye) there were several graves in this cemetery, however, upon investigation only one stone was found. There are no evident field stone markers. There are, however, several depressions in the soil indicative of burials. The cemetery probably has about 25 graves.
