New River Notes — Complete

January 21, 2014

After about two years of work we have completed a major upgrade to New River Notes. On January 21, 2014 we switched in the last of the updated files and final page revisions.

In January 2013 we introduced the new site layout but because there were many pages left to do there was a big red Under Construction on the front page. A year later we've finished all of the pages that were on the original site. Construction is complete. We have a great looking site full of material to help you in your research and possibly entertain you.

New River Notes, a leading genealogy resource for the New River Valley of North Carolina and Virginia, launched its new look website today.

Ben Taylor Cemetery

Grayson County, Virginia

Location: Southwest of Independence

Directions: From the junction of Wilson Hwy (US 58) and Penn Ford Rd (Rt 706) go south on Penn Ford Rd about 1 3/4 miles to private drive on the right (west) side of the road. This private drive is at the bottom of hill just prior to Mountain View Rd. Take this driveway. At fork in drive continue straight/left to the cemetery.

Comments: This cemetery is fenced and well maintained. A covered sign explains the history of the cemetery and lists the burials within it. The sign reads: "This land at one time belonged to Jonathan and Polly Ann Crouse Osborne. Their son William J. Osborne was the first one buried here. Jonathan was killed in the Civil War and Polly later married Ben Taylor. Gene Osborne now owns this land."
